Sarah Weddington, the young Texas lawyer whose persuasive arguments before the Supreme Court in the famous Roe v. Wade decision resulted in the legality of abortion throughout the United States, died on Sunday at her Austin home. She was 76 years old.

Rebecca Seawright, a former aide to Ms. Weddington and a member of the New York State Assembly, said she had been in poor health but that the reason of her death was unknown.

Weddington’s funeral date, time, venue are yet to be decided by her family and close associates.

However, a tweet from @abortionstories on Twitter revealed her obituary poster.

They tweeted; “We mourn the loss of Sarah Weddington, the lawyer and abortion storyteller who argued Roe v. Wade in front of the Supreme Court. She shared the story of traveling to Mexico for an illegal abortion while finishing law school in 1967. Thank you for your courage & voice, Sarah.”
