Bobby Rydell, a singer from Philadelphia, died on Tuesday at Jefferson Hospital, according to Action News.
‘Wildwood Days,’ ‘Volare,’ and ‘Swinging School,’ among many others, were hits for the 1950s teen star.
In 1963, Rydell co-starred alongside Dick Van Dyke and Ann Margret in the film ‘Bye, Bye, Birdie.’
The high school was named after Rydell by the producers of the 1970s romantic comedy “Grease” to honor the era in which the popular musical was set.
The musician has been in hundreds of shows throughout the course of his 30-year career.
In June, he was slated to perform at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City.
Bobby, on the other hand, had to cancel his 2012 tour in Australia due to a sudden decline in his health and the necessity for emergency surgery.
