Filip Hrgovi is a Croatian professional boxer who won the WBC International championship in 2018 and will compete for the IBF International title in 2020. He earned gold at the 2015 European Amateur Boxing Championships and bronze in the 2016 Summer Olympics as an amateur.

On December 4, 2021, Hrgovi was due to defend his second IBF International heavyweight championship against Scott Alexander at the MGM Grand Las Vegas in Las Vegas, United States. The fight was scheduled to take place on the undercard of a DAZN card headlined by Devin Haney and Joseph Diaz.
It was revealed on November 30, five days before the bout, that Alexander had withdrawn from the fight and would be replaced by Emir Akhmatova.
30 seconds into the third round, Hrgovi won via technical knockout. He knocked Ahmetovi down twice at the conclusion of the second round before the stoppage.
On February 7, it was stated that the #13 rated Chinese heavyweight Zhilei Zhang has accepted Hrgovi’s offer to negotiate.
The organization called a purse bid on February 14 after the two groups failed to reach an agreement.
Matchroom and Wasserman won the purse offer with a $650 000 combined bid. Hrgovi was entitled to a 60% split ($390 000), whereas Zhang was entitled to a 40% split ($260 000).
The fight was set to take place on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs. Dmitry Bivol on May 7, 2022, as a co-feature to the main event. Following the death of his father, Hrgovi withdrew from the fight on May 2.
