Not much personal information is known about Martha Sepúlveda but she was a 51-year-old mother of one. She was born on January 12, 1978. Her only son is Federico Redondo Sepúlveda.

Now has been ill for a long time and hence decided to end her life through her own doctors in a process called euthanasia.

Euthanasia is the purposeful termination of a patient’s life, which usually requires a doctor to provide the lethal drug. In the case of medically assisted suicide, qualifying individuals can seek and acquire drugs from their doctor to end their own life.

She died on Saturday morning, surrounded by her family, in a facility in Medellin, Colombia.

Federico Redondo Seplveda burst into tears when he learned of the court judgment. Martha’s lone kid, a 22-year-old law student, had spent months assisting his mother in filing a request for euthanasia.

“I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly,” he remarked. He had attempted to get the will to stand by his mother in what had been an agonizing decision for him.
