A 15-year-old girl from O’Fallon, Missouri is said to have died after she was hit by a boat on Sunday while swimming at Table Rock Lake.
Another swimmer, a 16-year-old Ballwin lad, reportedly sustained minor wounds as well, according to a statement from the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The event was confirmed in the late hours of the same day. It took place on Sunday, when the boat’s 62-year-old operator, Christopher Johnson, who is also from O’Fallon, Missouri, hit the teenagers before running into a steep hill in an area known as Breezy Point, near State Park Marina.
The 15-year-old swimmer was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her identity has not been publicly disclosed.
Christopher was uninjured after the event. Some reports claim the operator of the boat may have known one or both of the swimmers, although this is yet to be confirmed.
