Law enforcement officials in Muncie, Indiana, said that a man killed his neighbour after believing the victim hacked into his electrical system.
The suspect, Cy Alley, has been arrested and charged with murder, according to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney in Delaware County, Indiana.
According to an arrest affidavit from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, deputies said that on August 23, officials responded to a shooting and found the victim, Gary Copley, shot multiple times and dead “laying up against his house.”
A witness allegedly told deputies that they saw Alley shoot Copley multiple times and then drive away from the scene. After Alley was found, according to the affidavit, he allegedly told investigators that he had been having electrical issues in his home and “assumed that the victim was hacking into his network.”
“Cy said that he went over to Gary Copley’s residence to confront him. Gary and Cy were outside in Gary’s driveway,” the affidavit said.
“Cy said that he exited his truck with a Winchester 12 gauge pump shotgun and shot Gary 4 times with the intent to kill him. Cy said that the gun he used to kill Gary Copley, was in the back of his black Ford F250, which was later located by Detectives.”
The document said that Alley “was not remorseful for his actions.”
