Kent Dana, the Valley’s evening news anchor for three decades, died Tuesday afternoon on April 19.
The Dana family has a strong connection to television.
Joe Dana, Kent Dana’s father, was a radio and television personality from the 1930s to the 1950s.
Kent Dana began his career at KSAZ, now Fox 10, for Bill Close, (the dean of broadcasters back then), according to Dana in a 2019 profile in The Arizona Republic.
Dana then worked at KPNX (12 News) and later Channel 5 (both of which are part of Arizona’s Family stations).
The local TV news icon leaves behind his wife Janet of 42 years, their two children, and four children from his first marriage.
