Liza Minnelli ex husbands: Meet David Gest, Mark Gero, Jack Haley Jr, and Peter Allen
Her personal life was full of ups and downs. We take a look at some of her ex-husbands;
David Gest
Gest was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, to a Jewish family.
Gest married Liza Minnelli on March 16, 2002, and the couple divorced in July 2003.
He sued her for $10 million in October 2003, saying she was aggressive and physically abusive during their marriage, which the affidavit blamed on Minnelli’s long-term alcoholism.
Minnelli vehemently refuted the allegations, stating that Gest was only interested in her money. In September 2006, the lawsuit was dismissed due to a lack of a triable question offact.
In 1979, she married sculptor and theatre manager Mark Geo. During this marriage, she had three miscarriages. Minelli desired to create a family with artist Mark Gero.
Although there isn’t much information regarding their relationship, Minnelli has spoken candidly about the difficult times of this marriage.
In 1992, the couple divorced.
Jack Haley Jr
Minnelli went on to Jack Hayley Jr. in 1974. Judy Minelli co-starred in The Wizard Of Oz alongside Hayley Jr’s father, Jack Hayley, as the Tin Man.
The marriage ended after five years because the couple was more platonic than amorous. “Haley was spouse number two and straight,” the Guardian noted, “but they were friends rather than lovers.”
Peter Allen
Allen was an Australian singer and compose who had scored a number one success in his own country in 1976 with the tune ‘I Go To Rio‘.
Peter Allen and Liza Minnelli were married from 1967 to 1974.
Minnelli discovered Allen having an affair with a man on the night of their wedding.
According to Vice, Allen later began dating Mark Herron, who was married to Minnelli’s mother Judy Garland.
