Sydney Michelle McLaughlin is an American hurdler and sprinter who holds the 400m hurdles World Record. She won a gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and holds the world and Olympic marks in 50.68s and 51.46s, respectively.
According to the World Athletics website, she ran an incredible 51.90 seconds in the 400m hurdles at the US Olympic Trials last summer. McLaughlin subsequently established another world mark and won gold in Tokyo 2020 with a time of 51.46 seconds.

McLaughlin was the youngest athlete to qualify for the US Olympic track squad since 1980 in 2016, finishing third at the US Olympic Trials with a world under-18 best time of 54.15 seconds.
