Johnny Depp testified about consuming recreational drugs with prominent friends like Marilyn Manson and Paul Bettany while being cross-examined by Amber Heard’s legal team.
Depp’s text conversations from the past were produced as evidence on Thursday, revealing the actor referring to his substance misuse and alcohol addiction as his “demon.”
Ben Rottenborn, Heard’s lawyer, displayed text messages between Heard and WandaVision actor Paul Bettany, 50, including one in which the two joked about killing Heard.
In June 2013, text messages between the two showed them laughing about how to kill Heard, with Depp writing, “Before we burn her, let’s drown her!!!
After that, I’ll f her burning corpse to make sure she’s dead. Bettany responded by saying, “Those are entirely my sentiments! Let’s be sure before we call her a witch.
Depp is suing Heard for defamation for an op-ed she penned for the Washington Post in 2018 on surviving domestic violence, despite the fact that she never mentioned Depp by name.
Depp first filed the $50 million lawsuits in March of this year.
